A Brief Report By The International Students Union Electoral Commission

A BRIEF REPORT BY THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS UNION ELECTORALCOMMISSION

OF UNIVERSITY OF ELECTRONIC SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF CHINA (UESTC)

DATED 27TH MARCH 2012

The International office of UESTC officially approved of an electoral commission on Thursday, 22nd March 2012 to oversee the 2011/2012 general election of the International student union.

The electoral commission was constituted of five (5) members, namely

The main terms of reference was to ensure a free and fair election and announce the results. The commission members did their best to execute the task that was handed over to them.

The election was conducted on Saturday, 24th March 2012. The election started at exactly 1pm and ended at 4pm prompt.

However, prior to the election, the aspirants were made to read their manifestos before the general student body to enable them make a fair assessment of all the aspirant so as to know whom to vote for and what position to vote for.

This took off at exactly 10am and ended at 12pm prompt. Each aspirant was given five (5) minutes for manifesto reading and five (5) minutes for questioning and answering periods.

 

Again to ensure a free, fair and transparent election, all aspirants were asked to submit a name of a student to work with the electoral commission as a pooling agent for the aspirant, of which they all complied with. When the elections were over, both parties (electoral commission members and the pooling agents) appended their signatures to authenticate the election results and for approval as well as acceptance.

Below are the names of all the aspirants, who took part in the election, the positions they contested for, the number of votes each obtained with its percentage and those who were elected by the students.
