Leader from CSC gives Subject Report in UESTC

On the 14th of October Mr. Cao Shihai, director of planning and development department of CSC gave a subject report in Qingshuihe Campus, answering teachers' and students' questions about the state-funded-going-abroad program.

The report was hosted by vice president Mr. Wang Houjun. Mr. Wang extended sincere appreciation for director Cao's visit and the support from CSC for internationalization of talent cultivation in UESTC. He said that the fundamental role of university is to cultivate high quality talents with strong basic knowledge background, excellent comprehensive capacity, international perspective and international competitiveness. He expressed his requirement for all schools to do good work in state-funded-going-abroad programs and to ensure they play their full role of talent cultivation, subject development, scientific research and faculty construction.

Director Cao Shihai gave a detailed and systematic introduction of CSC and the policies of  the state-funded-going-abroad program. He explained from the perspectives of purpose of setting up the fund, development goal, selection size and category, key disciplines and fields, principles, channels, outcomes, problems, etc. He laid emphasis on the introduction of The Construction of the High-level State-funded-going-abroad Program by the State and answered in detail questions regarding selection subject, standard, the returning to China, interdisciplinary program, continuity of program, etc.
This report is also the kick-off meeting of 2011 state-funded-going-abroad programs. More than 300 people came to hear the report, including persons in charge of foreign affairs and foreign secretaries from all schools as well as teachers and students who are interested in going abroad.
