On September 23, the 44th UESTC Sports Meet opened on the Qingshui River Campus, which will last for two days. One of the highlights of the athlete parade at the opening ceremony was the procession of the foreign students from the School of International Education. They passed by the main platform in orderly ranks, marching in different skin colors and different ethnic costumes, some with their own national flags wrapped around them. Those in the frontline held placards showing large Chinese characters meaning “I Love UESTC.” Their loud battle cry “Come on, International students!” received applauses from the audience.

The international procession made its debut at the UESTC Sports Meet. They will compete as members of different school teams rather than as a united international team in such events as 100-meter dash, 1,500-meter race and long jump. They will also participate in artistic performances at the Celebration Ceremony of the 55th Anniversary of UESTC and Welcome Evening Party for New Students.

Presently, there are over 150 international students at UESTC. Although they come from some 30 different countries, they have gradually adapted themselves to their  life in Chengdu, and have got fully involved in the various learning processes on the campus, becoming members of the university family.
