Nobelist Prof. Kydland Comes to Lecture

Professor Finn E. Kydland, 2004 nobelist in economics, is invited to give lectures in UESTC. During his two-day stay from May 4 to 5, he has made two academic reports namedPolicy Consistency: Incentives to Innovation and Capital Formation andPolicy Consistency and National Economic Growth. During which, he starts from the fluctuations of per capita GDP in the US, Japan, the ROK, China and Argentina, detailed introduces economic model and overall production function he adopts and analyzes “Policy Consistency” with the background of technological incentive macro-policies. The value is put on technology which is the core for future production growth.

Before the lecture, prof. Kydland warmly is received by president Li Yanrong. Vice president Wang Houjun, representatives from International Office and School of Economics and Management also attend this meeting. Li Yanrong extends cordial welcome to Kydland’s arrival and deems this visit a golden opportunity for teachers and students to have face-to-face exchanges with the most elite master. Their knowledge about economic frontiers would be leveled up, their view broadened and sense of completion enhanced. Li heartedly wish frequent visits to strengthen cooperation and exchanges.

Kydland expresses his gratitude to the hospitality. China is a fascinating country, he says, and attracts world attention with its continuous economic growth in the backdrop of global downturn. He is deeply impressed by the economic development in Sichuan, and in UESTC particularly. The integration of economic management and electrical technologies will be of great advantage to students as well as to the whole society.
