Unveiling Ceremony of Glasgow School, UESTC

 The unveiling ceremony of Glasgow School is held in Qingshuihe Campus, May 16. President Li Yanrong and president of Glasgow University Muscatelli co-inaugurate it in front of representatives from Party propaganda office, international office and other departments.

Li Yanrong extends warm welcome to all the guests who travel across the distance, and expresses enthusiastic congratulation to the foundation of Glasgow School. Its establishment, he says, would benefit to talents with solid profession and international view. Furthermore, it must promote the education reform and renovation in UESTC though combining advanced concepts, administrative model and teaching methodology with elite resources in UESTC. Therefore, with a higher level, Glasgow School would surely become a known brand for joint education, and thereby strengthen UESTC’s international exertion.

Training elites with international competitiveness composes main part of our international education. Thus, it’s preferable to cooperate with known universities. He do hope scientific collaboration would be further enhanced. And Glasgow School, marking a new phase of dual education, would outstand and distinct.

Both parties, says Muscatelli, share many common grounds and possess strong force to extend international cooperation and exchanges. This partnership embodies the mutual complementary elements and mutual respect of two sides. UESTC was and still is standing on the frontier of Chinese electrical industry, and will surely gain more through the alliance.

Glasgow School plans to adopt 120 students perform excellent in college entrance exams and provides 4-year dual-degree classes in electrical engineering. Each graduate would receive dual BS diploma from both sides. At present, detailed preparation is underway for curriculum, books, teaching staff, education pattern, exam system and surveillance.
