Thales Delegation Pays a Visit

On the morning of May 17, Mr. Patrick Plante leaded his Thales delegation to UESTC for visit, and was warmly received by vice president Wang Houjun. The attendees also included heads of School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Research Institute of Scientific and Technological Development and International Office.

Wang Houjun extended sincere welcome to the delegation, and expressed his admiration to Thales, a professional hi-tech bloc with worldwide reputation and strong capacity in designing, developing and producing aerospace, defense and information technology products. Based on UESTC’s advantages in traditional electronics and information, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Research Institute have been striving to explore aviation electronics. Thus, he looked forward to potential cooperation between two sides.

Heads of International Office introduced school’s changes and international cooperation in the past few years. And School of Aeronautics and Astronautics presented its major researches to the guests.

Thales, as Patrick Plante said, has been in Chinese market for nearly 3 decades with offices in Beijing and Shanghai. And they have launched cooperative projects with Chengdu in terms of aerospace and scientific study. This visit marks a milestone for Thales to train their research staff in China. Moreover, he appreciated UESTC’s stunning achievement in talent training, scientific research and disciplinary construction. Its refreshing, splendid campus and favorable academic atmosphere left deep impression on him.

After discussion on commercialization of scientific findings, research collaboration pattern, Patrick Plante indicated his desire for second visit and cooperation in scientific research and talent training in the very near future.
