In the early hour of Nov.4, the four-day-long iGEM (International Genetic Engineering Machine Competition) world final meets its end in Massachusetts Institutes of Technology, USA. Among the 80 odd competent teams, our team named UESTC rises from the groups and wins the gold medal of software final competition.

In the Asian-Pacific regional competition held in early October, having stood out among competitive counterparts from Chinese University of Science and Technology, Sun Yan-set University, Xiamen University, Southern University of Science and Technology etc, our team successfully entered into the final with other two Asian-Pacific teams. Due to failed visa attainment, our team decides, after coordination with organizing committee, to attend with prepared video presentation.

On the early morning of Nov.3 UTC+8, our team UESTC skype-linked with Massachusetts Institutes of Technology and shows the prepared video as the software design statement. In the 17-minute presentation, the game ibrick (which has logged on Androids and jOS) and iGEM promotion have intrigued the judges and audience, who also received fluent and detailed replies to their questions afterwards. The whole process takes half an hour in total.

This medal marks the first honor received by our students of life science major in attending world-class competitions.
