Université Montpellier II Delegation Visit UESTC

On May 4, our university held a ceremony to welcome more than 50 teachers and students from the Université Montpellier II.Vice President Wang Houjun attended the ceremony.\



Wang said that this year marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France; Chengdu and Montpellier were twin cities of 33 years; and UESTC and UM2 established Montpellier Confucius Institute last year.  All of these have indicated that the two universities enjoy favorable conditions for sustainable collaboration. He hoped the teachers and students from France could take this opportunity to have a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture and China’s development in recent years. He also wished that the two universities could expand our exchange programs, strengthen our cooperation and gain more achievements.\


Mrs. Marie - George Tournoud, director of the Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering Department of Université Montpellier II, expressed her appreciation to the enthusiastic reception of UESTC. She pointed out that coming to China was the sound way to understand this country, and cultural communication is very crucial.She also gave a brief introduction about Université Montpellier II to UESTC colleagues and students.\



Staff from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Electronic Engineering and School of Mechatronic Engineering, and UM2  students and UESTC volunteers attended the ceremony.

Université Montpellier II Delegation arrived in Chengdu on May 2. They have begun a three-week exchange program in our university. Before coming to China, the delegation had received a preliminary Chinese Language training in Montpellier Confucius Institute. In the coming days, they will attend classes with Chinese students and visit such cultural attractions as the Giant Panda Base and Dujiangyan Irrigation Systems and some enterprises in Hi-tech Zone, etc. They will have a brief but first-hand experience of Chinese traditional culture and modern development.
