The agreement marks a new stage as well as a new level of mutual cooperation between the Glasgow University and UESTC.

President Li Yanrong extended a warm welcome to President Anton Muscatelli and his delegation. He said that how to train talents was a fundamental problem in the new generation of information technology when the global information construction had entered into an advanced stage. As an electronic information-oriented university, UESTC attached great importance to cooperate with elite schools like the Glasgow University, which would promote the transformation of our university. President Li hoped that both parties could deepen cooperation on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual trust.

President Anton Muscatelli expressed that UESTC was their most important strategic partner in China as well as the only university which the Glasgow University chose to cooperate with in running schools at undergraduate level. He thought highly of the achievements made by both sides and hoped to deepen the strategic cooperative partnership. Recently, the Glasgow University has invested heavily in Light Quantum Research Center in order to support the talent cultivation and scientific research.

During the meeting, both sides had a broad and in-depth exchange of views on the details of Sino-foreign cooperative education.

The participants from the Glasgow University included former Vice President John Chapman, Dean of the School of Engineering John Mash and Senior Lecturer Huabing Yin. Directors of the Office of Int'l Cooperation of UESTC also attended the meeting.
