Delegation from Province of Trento, Italy Visited UESTC

On March 21st,the delegation from Province of Trento, Italy visited the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China(UESTC), and Professor Xiong Caidong, Vice President of UESTC,met the delegates on the Qingshuihe Campus.On behalf of the university, Professor Xiong extended a warm welcome to the delegacy and made a brief introduction of UESTC. As the 1st tertiary institute of electronic information constructed in New China,UESTC will usher in its 60th anniversary in this September. The past 60 years has witnessed its great-leap-forward progress in the domain of electronic information,where it has formed integrated edges including comprehensive disciplines,regular teams and diversified platforms. Having Implemented its internationalization strategy vigorously in the recent years,UESTC is working on various exchange programs for its students and faculty members to broaden their horizon abroad,thus hoping to further promote the cooperative relationship with Province of Trento as well as the University of Trento. \

Laura Pedron, head of the delegation and office director of high school and college education and training service of Province of Trento,said that they desired to enhance the collaboration between their colleges,research institutes and UESTC as well as the city of Chengdu by virtue of this visit.  

Paolo Collini, President of University of Trento,and Professor Di Aiying, director of International Office of UESTC shared the setup of schools and departments,faculty and international cooperation projects respectively so as to deepen mutual understanding and fully seize the opportunities for cooperation. Furthermore, the director of Microsystem and Material Center in Bruno Kessle Foundation expressed great expectation for exploring areas of cooperation after the presentation of the Foundation history,organization structure of the Center,facilities,innovation programs application and cases of cooperation with the industry.  

Present at the meeting were teachers from School of Mircoelectronics and Solid-State Electronics, School of Linguistics and Literature and Research Institute of Electronic Science and Technology, officials of Consulate of Italy, Chongqing and Bruno Kessler Foundation.

Founded in 1962, The University of Trento is one of the youngest universities in Italy. Its predecessor, Higher University Institute for Social Sciences, was established by the Autonomous Province of Trento in 1962, and then became an independent university in 1972. It has developed promptly in recent years,enjoying a most high academic status in the world. The University of Trento has enrolled 15,000 students with Italian citizenship,9,249 of whom from the Autonomous Province of Trento,4,612 of whom from any other provinces of Italy,and 144 international students. There are 6 schools with 251 teachers, 161 researchers and over 400 technical and administrative staff in total.
