Vice President of UPVM3 Visits UESTC

In the afternoon of March 4th, the Vice President of UPVM3 (Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, the third largest university in Montpellier), Prof. Anne-Marie Motard visited UESTC and was warmly received by the Vice President Xiong Caidong on Qingshuihe campus. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of the bilateral cooperation. \

Firstly, the Vice President Xiong Caidong extended a warm welcome to Prof. Anne-Marie Motard’s visit, and then made a brief introduction of the history and achievement of UESTC, saying that as one of the key universities supported by Chinese government’s “985 Project” for higher education and featured in electronic and information, UESTC has implemented the strategies of internationalization and expanding the scope of disciplines. He added that in the recent years, UESTC has established the cooperation with the top institutions and universities in France, such as the Université Paris-Sud, Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, TEECOME Bretagne and so on. He also hopes, through this visit, UESTC and UPVM 3 could have a better understanding of each other and shape a cooperation relationship with each other in the field of culture and humanity in the future.

Prof. Anne-Marie Motard was very delighted for her first visit to UESTC. She introduced UPVM3 as a comprehensive university mainly focusing on the culture, art, social and humanity studies. As one of the Council members of the Confucius Institute in Montpellier, she is familiar with the cooperation and exchange between UESTC and Montpellier. She hopes by exchanging teachers and students, UESTC and UPVM3 could facilitate the academic exchange and research collaboration.

Di Aiying, the director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, made a brief introduction of UESTC’s exchanging mode with the overseas institutions and universities, including Study Abroad Program supported by National CSC, Degree Program, Exchange Student Program, Short-term Cultural Exchange Program and so on. In 2015, a cooperation framework agreement was signed between UESTC and UPVM3. This year, the Visiting Study in UPVM3 and Summer Camp for French language and culture, two programs sponsored by National CSC for excellent undergraduate students, will be initiated by UESTC. Director Di delivered a sincere invitation to all the teachers and students in UPVM3, welcoming them to attend the teaching and cultural exchange activities held in this summer holiday by UESTC so as to help the France Department to fulfill its construction and development.

In the morning of March 4th, staffs from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and School of Foreign Language held a discussion with Prof. Anne-Marie Motard, all of them exchanging views on both the short and long term bilateral collaboration in 2016 and detailing on every specific issues concerned.

In the afternoon of March 3rd, Prof. Anne-Marie Motard had a communication with teachers and students from French Department, introduced some basic information of UPVM3, referred to the students the short and long term programs UPVM3 going to have with UESTC, and made a response to students’ questions about the details of the programs as well as the questions about studying in France.
