Delegation from Deakin University, Australia visited UESTC

On April 20th, Professor Hu Haoquan, Vice President of UESTC met the university delegation led by Dr. Trevor Day, Vice President of Deakin University, Australia on Qingshuihe campus. Both sides exchanged views on the cooperation in teaching, scientific research and joint supervision programs.\

On behalf of UESTC, Vice President Hu Haoquan extended a warm welcome to Vice President Trevor Day and his companies, and made a brief introduction of UESTC, namely its history, advantage disciplines as well as the national and international rankings. He mentioned that as a university featuring electronic information, UESTC has far-reaching influence in China’s IT industry, and in recent years, UESTC has vigorously promoted the strategy of internationalization, strengthening the cooperation with overseas universities in fields like scientific researches and student exchange programs. He hoped that this visit could better the communication between teachers and students from both sides, strengthen the relationship between Deakin University and UESTC, and deepen the cooperation in scientific research.

Vice President Trevor Day also made an introduction of Deakin University in respect of its basic information, advantage disciplines, research institutions as well as its production-teaching-research system. He thought highly of the achievements UESTC has made in IT industry, and said Deakin University planes to develop its cooperation with many Asian universities in the 21th century, the Asia-centered century. He hoped that exchanges with UESTC would lead to promoted cooperation in teaching and scientific research, especially on postgraduate level.

During the meeting, relevant directors from Office of International Cooperation and Exchange made an introduction of UESTC in terms of it history, faculties, advantage disciplines, scientific research platforms, fundamental researches, characteristic research centers on university level, and international collaboration.

The two parties had a discussion about short-term exchange programs and the joint-supervision models targeted at master and doctor degree candidates.
