President of La Trobe University John Dewar Visited UESTC

On September 20, John Dewar President of La Trobe University along with his delegation visited University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. UESTC President Li Yanrong and vice President Xiong Caidong met the guests on Qingshuihe campus.


Vice President of La Trobe University Kelly Smith, International Department Senior Manager of Market Development in North Asia Gus Tham, Market Development Manager International Department in China (China Southern) Clare Shen, the Head of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Di Aiying, Dean of School of Physical Electronics Meng Lin, School Secretary of the Party Committee Xu Jun, Assistant Dean of School of Physical Electronics Yang Hongchun, School Deputy Party Secretary Yang Mao and other relevant persons attended the meeting.

 President Li Yanrong expressed warm welcome to the guests and introduced history, faculty and facilities, outstanding disciplines, personnel training programs and “Dual First Class”construction goal of the University. President Li said, characterized by electronic information, UESTC has trained a large number of talents for the development of China's electronic information industry during the past six decades. President Li deemed broadening students' international horizon through inter-school communications as a significant task of the university, UESTC has been devoted to deepening the cooperation with La Trobe University. The success of the cooperation till now laid the foundation for further work between two universities. With regard to reinforcement of cooperation and communication, both sides hoped to do more in the fields of teacher and student exchange.  



John Dewar extended warm congratulations to the the upcoming 60th anniversary of UESTC and acclaimed for the achievements made by UESTC in the discipline construction. He said La Trobe University will witness its 50th anniversary in 2017, La Trobe University is a fast developing university with distinct features, and its preponderant subjects are Physics, Electronic Information, Big Data, Molecular Biology. La Trobe University has been devoted to seeking the similarity and difference between two universities. John Dewar said that the two universities had been keeping long-term positive exchanges and cooperation. He believed that La Trobe University and UESTC would make more progress on the basis of strengthened communication and enhanced mutual understanding.

After the meeting, both sides signed a cooperation memorandum.
