On Sept. 28th, an education fair of UESTC partner universities was held, which attracted a full house of our students. As an episode of the 60th anniversary of UESTC, this education fair was the first time we had foreign delegates of our cooperative universities here to communicate with students face to face.

Cooperative universities participated in this education fair included UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, Dublin Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Chiba University, etc. The fair was divided into two parts: display zone and information session. Open inquiries were available for students in display zone. They could ask teachers from cooperative universities what they were curious about. Besides, they even could submit their CV and receive one-to-one guidance on how to apply for the corresponding university. The programe managers from Office of International Cooperative and Exchange, UESTC were also on the spot to introduce an overall status of UESTC’s short-term student exchanges. When it came to information session, some universities briefed their features and preferential policies. Dean Michael Brown from UCSB shared his life experiences when the session greeted its fever, which impressed the students much and won waves of applause.

This education fair not only attracted many Chinese students, lots of international students could also be seen in the fair. One student said that it had provided him a platform to communicate with foreign universities directly. Teachers were also very nice to give them effective guidance on overseas study. Buried in such a warm international atmosphere, he found the dream of studying abroad rooted deeper.

Another more large-scale education fair, the 8th CSC scholarship information meeting (Chengdu) will be held in UESTC on 19th Oct. Then, some famous professors and recruiting staffs from 75 foreign universities and 12 countries will be here to explain the scholarship on undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students. University of Cambridge and Imperial College, London are also in the guest list. CSC (China Scholarship Council) will also hold a lecture on “Chinese Government Graduate Student Overseas Study Program” and provide on-spot consultation.
