From October 3 to 5, Prof. Zhang Bo, Prof. Luo Ping and other four teachers and students attended the 19th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI-SoC 2011) held in Hong Kong. The six are from the Key Laboratory of Power Semiconductors and Smart Power IC, School of Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics. They presented three academic papers at the conference. Among them, Dr. Ming Xin’s “A Low-Power Ultra-Fast Capacitor-Less LDO with Advanced Dynamic Push-Pull Techniques” were given the only Best Paper Award.

The conference received 151 academic papers from different countries. Fourty-five of them (29.8%) were accepted for conference presentation, and anothertwenty-four were accepted as posters.

The Power IC Laboratory started research on PMIC in 2001. ever since then, it has gradually made its way onto the platform for state key research projects through cooperation with university-run enterprises. Its researchers have academic papers published not only on kernel journals at home but also as it is the case in recent years on such internationally well-known professional journals as IEEE Trans. Cas I, IEEE Trans. Cas II, IEEE Trans. IE, and IEEE Trans. PE. Graduates from the laboratory majoring in PMIC have received ready acceptance by world-famous enterprises in this field like TI, ADI, Marvell and MPS.

In the past three years, the laboratory has had twenty-one research papers published on world top-level journals IEEE EDL and IEEE T-ED, becoming a major contributor in their field to these journals. In 2011, three of their papers were accepted by the ISPSD, the most important international conference on power conductors, making UESTC the greatest contributor among universities all over the world.
