2011 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid and Clean Energy Technologies (ICSGCE 2011) was held on UESTC Shahe Campus from September 27 to 30. Some 90 representatives from twenty-four countries and regions including China, the US, Canada, Germany, France and Great Britain attended the conference. They had discussions on smart grid and clean energy resources.

The conference focused on global challenges from energy and environment problems including regional and international energy security issues, and new energy technolohies such as smart grid construction, energy saving and emission reduction, low-carbon technology, renewable energy resources.

Prof. Shi Dinghuan, Chief Energy Advisor to the State Council and Chairman of the Chinese Society of Renewable Energy Resources, delivered a wonderful lecture on China’s energy strategies and the global energy crisis. Three other internationally renowned scholars made keynote speeches.

ICSGCE was initiated by UESTC Academic Journal English Editorial Office (JEST) and is co-sponsored by School of Optoelectronic Information and School of Energy Science and Engineering. Prof. Danny Sutanto from University of Wollonggong of Australia and Prof. Chen-Ching Liu from National University of Ireland serve as co-chairs of the conference. UESTC Vice-president Xiong Caidong attended at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Prof. Huang Qi from UESTC, chairman of the organizing committee. Professors from School of Optoelectronic Information and School of Energy Science and Engineering had talks with guests from overseas.
