UESTC Signs Framework Agreement with Changhong

On October 19, UESTC signed a framework agreement with Changhong for startegic cooperation. The signing ceremony was held on the Qingshui River Campus. President Wang Jinsong and Chairman of Board of Directors signed the documents on behalf of their respective organizations. According to the agreement, both sides will have in-depth cooperation in various areas such as basic research and application, joint project engaement, technical transfer and application of research achievements, new inventions, integrative innovation, and improvement on imported technologies.

Also among those who witnessed the event were UESTC Party Secretary Wang Zhiqiang, Vice-president Xiong Caidong, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Yafei, Deputy General Manager of Changhong Group Zheng Guangqing, Assistant General Engineer Yang Dan, Deputy Director of Sichuan Provincial Office for National Denfence Technology Liu Weihua, and other officials concerned from both parties. Vice-president Yang Xiaobo presided over the ceremony.

 

Pesident Wang expressed warm welcome to Mr. Zhao and delegation. He said that, as one of the leading universities involved in Project 211 and Project 985 directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education, UESTC had developed itself into a multidisciplinary research university covering all branches of the electronics, with information science and technology as its kernel specialization, a university with major interest in engineering while gradually penetrating into different fields of science, management and humanities. UESTC, he added, was keenly interested in full-scale cooperation with leading enterprises in all major industries both at home and abroad. He also said that he viewed the framework agreement with Changhong as a new milestone in the bilateral cooperation, which would further strengthen ties between both sides, guaranttee more and greater innovative achievements, and set a good example for cooperation between a university and an industrial enterprise.

Mr. Zhao Yong said that ever since its establishment in 1958, Changhong had been going through a developmental journey from establishing itself in the defence industry, to rapidly growing with the production of color TV sets, to branching into diverse areas in information and electronic technologies. Changhong, he said, had successfully built itself into a comprehensive multinational industrial group which manufactures defence equipment and consumer electronic products with strong R&D capacities for making core components in related areas. Changhong, Zhao added, had always been keen on cooperation with excellent universities like UESTC. He believed that the signing of this new agreement would pave the way for Changhong to have a faster and better development with stronger support from UESTC, pushing Changhong forward in transformation from turning out products “Made in China” to producing technologies “Created by China”.

Mr. Liu Weihua extended congratulations on the signing of the framework agreement on behalf of Sichuan Provincial Office for National Denfence Technology, hoping to see a faster and better development for the two sides in their research and production frontlines.

The two sides signed four other agreements on laboratory construction and human resource development. Plaques were also unveiled for three joint laboratories which specialize in data monitoring devices, digital application support software, and precision testing and radar systems.
