On the evening of October 27, the UESTC Auditorium on the Qingshui River Campus overflew with hot music performed by the French superstar rock-'n'-roll band—the Microfilm, as part of Chengdu stop of the Alliance Française de Chine Tour. The passionate performance of the five musicians gave the students a wonderful and romantic evening.

Present at the concert were Monsieur Laurent Croset, Chief Representative of the Alliance Française in China and Director of the Alliance Française de Beijing, Madame Anne Rulliat and Madame Di Aiying, the French and Chinese Directors of the Alliance Française de Chengdu. Madame Rulliat made a speech before the concert began, hoping that the concert would help promote understanding of the French culture among Chinese students. She said that the Alliance Française would arrange more chances for students in China to enjoy artistic performances and that she sincerely welcome them to go to France for further studies.

The Microfilm was formed by artists with different musical backgrounds in 2003. Unique charms were fully displayed in their exotic performances. No singing was heard the whole evening. Instead, dialogs and scenes from different films were broadcast and projected, some of which had been woven in new combinations by themselves. By pressing their self-designed pedals, the band switched the carefully selected visual shots on the screen in rhythm with the music. The music they played was highly original and suited a broad ranged of artistic tastes.

The one-and-a-half-hour evening gave the students a  chance to hear an echo from the rock-'n'-rollworld. Afterwards, the students had a brief communication with the band members.
