On the morning of October 26, the 2011 China-Korea-Japan Electronics and Communications Conference (ECC2011) opened on UESTC's Shahe Campus. Organized by UESTC and organized by School of Electronic Engineering, the two-day conference made an excellent platform for faculties and students from universities of the three countries to exchange ideas on scientific research in the electronic information fiekd and on their respective cultures.

Prof. Pan Jing from School of Electronic Engineering presided over the opening ceremony, Mr. Hu Jun, School Party Secretary, made a welcoming speech, and Prof. Wan Qun delivered a lecture to the participants.

Twelve professors and twenty-six students from Northest University of Japan and Yeungnam University of Korea, and ten faculty members and some sixty students from UESTC participated at the conference. The conference arranged for both oral and poster presentations. Twenty-six papers were orally presented and twelve were put on posters. Twenty UESTC students' papers were presented orally or on posters. Another ninety-six papers by UESTC students had been accepted by the conference. It is reported that the conference will recommend well-written papers for EI index or publication on major academic journals at home and abroad.

It was the second time for UESTC to host the ECC—the first had taken place in 2008. ECC2011 was supported by the Postgraduates' Scientific and Cultural Program under Phase III of Project 985.
