Carleton-UESTC Exchange Camp Opens

On December 5, the opening ceremony for the Carleton-UESTC Student Exchange Camp was held at School of Life Science and Technology . Dr. David Hougen-Eitzman from the Department of Biology, Carleton university, USA, Mr. yuan Qin, Party Secretary of School of Life Science and Technology , UESTC, and Mr. Li Ye, Vice-dean of School of International Education, UESTC, attended the ceremony together with faculty and students from the two universities.

 

It had been the second time for Dr. Hougen-Eitzman to visit School of Life Science and Technology, UESTC. The first was a half-month stay in December, 2009 when both sides benefited from interaction and exchange of ideas. At the opening ceremony, Yuan Qin expressed warm welcome to the Carleton faculty and students and wished them a good time in Chengdu. Li Ye reviewed exchange and cooperation between the two universities in the past years, hoping for an even closer relationship and better mutual understanding and benefits through greater joint efforts.

Dr. Hougen-Eitzman showed his gratitude for the hospitality from UESTC and especially from School of Biological Science, saying that the thoughtful arrangements by the hosts would guaranttee the success of the exchange camp. Representatives for the Carleton students and UESTC student volunteers also spoke at the ceremony.

It is reported that the exchange camp will last for a  week during which the American guests, accompanied by UESTC student volunteers, will visit farms and scenic spots in Sichun.
