From Feburary 3 to 18, 2012, fifty-two undergraduate students from School of Information and Software Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, and School of Mechatronics Engineeringwent to Singapore for a two-week cultural exchange program at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic, a UESTC’s partner institution, arranged for the student visitors a series of courses on language, culture, history and etiquettes. The students not only learned a lot about Singapore’s history and culture, but also had a chance to reconsider their views about language and language learning in the all-English learning environment.

During their stay in Singapore, the students paid a visit to the prestigious Nanyang Technological University, where they were shown around the Energy Research Institute and laboratories by NTU professors and UESTC alumni studying there. They attended a lecture specially held for them on life and study at NTU.

Apart from learning courses and visits, activities were also arranged for students from both Ngee Ann and UESTC to interact with each other, including outward bound events, fun games and singing and dancing. Friends were soon made among the young people.
