University of Glasgow Vice-chancellor Visits UESTC

From Feburary 28 to 29, Prof. John Chapman, Vice-chancellor of University of Glasgow, Prof. John Marsh, Head of School of Engineering, and Prof. Yun Li, Director of University of Glasgow Singapore came to visit UESTC.



On the morning of Feburary 28, President Wang Jinsong interviewed the guests from the UK. He told the visitors about UESTC’s academic strengths, focuses and development prospects, laying speial emphasis on inernationalization. President Wang said that UESTC had always been keen on cooperation with world-class universities like University of Glasgow, and that more encouragement would be given to faculty, students and administrative staff to engage themselves in international exchange.

On the basis of the existing bilateral cooperation in education and research, Prof. Chapman said, he was eager to see further cooperation between the two universities in joint graduate as well as undergraduate education programs, faculty exchange, scientific research and cultural exchange.

In the afternoon, together with administrative excutives from School of Communication, School of Electronic Engineering, School of Microelectronics, School of Computer Science and administrative departments including the Academic Affairs Office, Financial Office and International Office, Vice-president Wang Houjun held a talk with the Glasglow delegation, in which in-depth discussions were carried out on enrolment, teaching, management, and logistics. The hosts and guests reached consensus on a wide variety of issues.

During their stay at UESTC, the guests also visited and observed the Engineering Training Center as well as some laboratories in operation.
