President Wang Jinsong Visits Spain and Portugal with Delegation

From May 18 to 22, President Wang Jinsong and Vice-president Xiong Caidong paid visits to univewrsities in Spain and Portugal with a delegation in attempts to push forward internationalization of education and cooperation.

 

 

 

On May 18, Wang and his delegation visited the Technical University of Madrid (UPM in Spanish initials) and held a talk with Prof. Carlos Conde, President in office, and his predecessor Prof. Javier Uceda aswell as Prof. Angel Alvarez, Assistant to President in charge of International Cooperation, on on issues about further cooperation between the two universities on the basis of on-going student exchange programs, especially in the area of scientific research to which both sides showed great concern. The UESTC delegation also paid visits to UPM's Industrial Engineering Center and Communications Engineering Center. The delegation were deeply impressed by both centers’ excellent experimental facilities, their remarkable research achievements, close ties with the industries, and the way they took pride in the heritage from their own historical development. During the stay at UPM, President Wang and delegation went to see UESTC-sent students working for Ph Ds at UPM.

 

On May 22, President Wang led the delegation to ISCTE Lisbon University Institute and had an interview with Prof. Reto, Rector (President) of ISCTE-LUI, along with heads of ISCTE-LUI's Business School and School of Technology and Architecture and the Office for International Cooperation. ISCTE-LUI is one of UESTC’s partnership institutions for Doctoral in Business Administration (DBA), starting from 2009. Leaders of both parties reviewed cooperation in the DBA program in the past years, and decided to continue cooperation in electronic engineering, management engineering and language training. After the interview, accompanied by Rector Reto, the delegation toured around the campus and visited laboratories, the Student Center and the Business Center.
